Who we are

Established in 1986, the Beach Health Clinic is a 501C3 organization that provides quality comprehensive health and dental care to the residents of Virginia Beach that are under 200% of the federal poverty level.

With only two full time and several part time employees, the clinic is better able to direct donations directly to patient services. We thank our dedicated volunteers who give so unselfishly to the mission of providing quality care to the uninsured.

Dr. Huggins-Jones has been a devoted volunteer gynecologist at the BHC since 1998. A native of Queens, NY, Dr. Huggins-Jones received her medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College (Now Drexel University School of
Medicine) in 1981. She then began her OB/GYN residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital. After spending time working at Franklin General Hospital in New York as a house physician, she later finished her residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Staten Island. She fulfilled
her National Health Service Corps requirement by working as an OB/GYN in King’s County, Brooklyn, where she made use of her fluent Spanish speaking ability to treat the large Dominican population in the area. She then served an associate clinical professorship
at SUNY Downstate hospital and later worked as an OB/GYN at HIP Laguardia Hospital. After these 18 years
of medical experience in the New York area, Dr. Huggins-Jones moved to Virginia Beach and began to work as an
OB/GYN at Family Medical Practitioners, where she has been ever since. Dr. Huggins-Jones prides herself in treating all aspects of a woman’s health, including mental health and weight management. We are so grateful to have a volunteer physician with such an incredible breadth of clinical experience as Dr. Huggins-Jones. Thank you so much for everything you do for the Beach Health
